The Lifestyle Center at Lake Lure is in the Great Smokey Mountains region, where Americans have flocked by the thousands to build second homes and retirement pads for almost a century. The Center is just south of the famous, lovely lake where several feature films have been set, including the Last of the Mohicans and Dirty Dancing. The Lake Lure and surrounding area is teeming with picturesque and historic attractions. Just minutes from the Center, Chimney Rock State Park offers 1,000 acres of breath-taking views and spectacular NC hiking trails.
You'll love the moderate climate, spectacular scenery, and laidback friendliness of the region. George Washington Vanderbilt liked it so much that he built his “little mountain escape,” now known as the magnificent Biltmore Estate and Gardens, near Asheville, an attraction in itself, with dozens of shops, galleries and music venues, and an enviable list of vegan and vegetarian restaurants and healthy grocery stores. The city of Asheville has recently achieved the enviable distinction of being among the top 20 most visited cities in the world.
Just up the road from the Center at Lake Lure, the Swannanoa Gathering, a series of weeklong workshops in various folk arts, are held in July and August on the campus of Warren Wilson College. Cowpens National Battlefield and Kings Mountain National Military Park, both Revolutionary War sites, are in the region.
Less than 40 minutes west is Flat Rock, summer home of poet Carl Sandburg, the Flat Rock Playhouse, and abundant outdoor fun. An hour south is Greenville, SC with an array of small city attractions including galleries, museums, and performing arts. Hosts Tim and Anita Koch open their contemporary six-bedroom home on seven acres surrounded by Blue Ridge beauty for you to enjoy. You get sun time on pontoon boat excursions, leisurely walks on country roads, and will enjoy organic produce from the Koches' bounteous gardens.
Tim and Anita Koch find their greatest joy in sharing the Hallelujah Lifestyle with others.
The Koches are Messianic believers who honor Anita's Jewish heritage and celebrate Jesus Christ as Savior. They often participate in community activities where they can spread the word about living foods through demonstrating methods and providing delectable samples.
They are a multi-talented couple with many interests and experiences they bring to their Lifestyle Center. Anita once taught high school English and dance, and still enjoys the worship of God through the art of dance. Tim was a building contractor and fitness coach.
Years before she became a living foods convert, Anita Koch owned and operated an award-winning restaurant in her native New York State. Tim has recently become a certified vegan chef, bringing sophisticated textures, colors, flavors, and eye-appeal to a table spread with life-giving fare.
Together, they bring their love of delectable food and commitment to excellent health to your service at the Lake Lure Lifestyle Center. You’ll find several original Lake Lure dishes in the recipe book that all Lifestyle Center guests receive.
The Koches' Lifestyle Center is tucked away on a quiet country road, making it safe and serene for walks and outdoor activities at any time of day and in every season. Surrounding views of the world-famous Blue Ridge Mountains give the location postcard-worthy loveliness. Inside, the spacious, airy interior flows from the large, well-equipped kitchen to dining, living and lecture areas on the house’s upper level.
On the lower level, a dayroom doubles as an indoor exercise area, and a second kitchen insures even more convenience. Two upper level bedrooms are each furnished with two queen beds. On the lower level, a large bedroom is furnished with two queens, and a smaller bedroom has a single queen bed. Both have private baths. A separate cottage offers two bedrooms, each with one queen bed, attached half baths and a shared Jack and Jill shower.
